Alora, meaning “beautiful dreamer,” is a refined yet convivial San Francisco waterfront restaurant that melds the vibrant flavors, ingredients and dishes from countries spanning the vast Mediterranean coastline with market-driven California cuisine.
Situated on San Francisco’s Pier 3—steps from the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market—the seasonal, market-driven menu is guided by a focus on sustainability and “old world” cooking methods, from an extensive handmade pasta program, to grilling over charcoal embers, dry aging meats, and preserving ingredients through curing and fermentation.
Led by esteemed chef Ryan McIlwraith, Alora’s food and beverage program brings a Californian approach to the vast domain of Mediterranean cuisine. Pulling inspiration from countries along the Mediterranean sea, the menu highlights a variety of influences including Greek, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, and Middle Eastern.

Inspired by the expansive cultures and flavors of countries along the Mediterranean Sea, Alora uses locally sourced seasonal ingredients prepared with “old world” cooking techniques to create a menu filled with small dishes meant for sharing—from mezze, to handmade pastas, an array of sustainable seafood and dry aged meats, and skewers cooked over a charcoal grill.
